BRISTOL HARBOR GROUP, INC. PROVIDES HULL DESIGN SERVICES FOR 28 FT FIRE / RESCUE BOAT AND 31 FT WATERTAXI

Bristol, RI - - June 10, 2008 - - Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. continues to provide design and engineering services to Curtis Marine, (East Setauket, NY), including hull design, expansions and lofting. Recent designs include a 31 ft Water Taxi for Fire Island, New York, and a 28 ft Fire / Rescue boat for Cutchogue, New York. The Fire / Rescue Boat hull is 28ft long, has a 10 ft beam, and draws 1 ft 5 in with the outboard engines up. The vessel has 10 degrees of deadrise at the transom, and is powered by twin 200 hp Honda outboards. This was the first modified deep-vee produced by Curtis Marine, and performance was outstanding in the steep chop often encountered on the Long Island Sound and adjacent waters. "We (Bristol Harbor Group, Inc.) have designed quite a few modified deep-vee hulls, but it is fun to hear the overwhelmingly positive reaction from both the builder and operator for this hull," said Cory Wood, a Principal Naval Architect at Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. The bow loading water taxi on the other hand has a flatter transom deadrise of 8 degrees. This is a common deadrise distribution for these vessels that operate on Long Island's Great South Bay. This hull is 31 ft long, with an 11 ft 6 in beam, and a hull draft of 2 ft. The boat is powered by twin 230 HP Cummins MerCruiser Diesel sterndrives, and carries up to 31 passengers.
